第一條  本所碩士班研究生之入學、修課及考試等有關事項,依本校研究所學則及本所規則辦理。

                Issues related to enrollment, course-taking, and examinations of master students in our Institute are processed according to the Study Regulations of the University for Graduate Institutes and related rules of our Institute.  

第二條        本所碩士班研究生之修業年限為一至四年。

          The length of study for our master program is from 1 year to 4 years.

第三條        本所碩士班研究生入學後,每學期修習研究所課程至多不得超過十二學分。

                     During the study duration, a student should take no more than 12 credits of graduate level courses in each semester.

第四條        本所研究生應於修業年限內完成本所課程之相關修業規定(本所外籍生,得免修本所專題討論課程除論文外,至少需修滿三十學分。第一學期不得選修外所課程,有特殊需求者得提請所務會議討論;第二學期起,須經指導教授同意,始得至外所選課。選修外所課程至多採認九學分。

                    Students should meet the curricular requirements for our program in the length of study (International Students exempt from taking the seminar course). In addition to the thesis, students are required to take at least 30 credits of courses. Students are not allowed to take courses at other institutes in the first semester; however, special cases can be approved by the Institute Affairs Meeting. Beginning from the second semester, students with an approval from advisors can take courses at any department. A total of 9 credits from other institutes are acceptable at most for graduation.

另依本校第151次教務會議決議,自98學年度入學之研究生(不含外籍生與在職專班生)均應必修英文4學分(不包含於畢業之三十學分內),必修及其抵免相關規定如下:

According to the 151th Teaching Affairs Meeting of our University, master students enrolled in 2009 academic year and after (not including foreigners or students in the on-the-job programs) must complete 4 credits of Required English course(s) (in addition to the previously mentioned 30 credits required for graduation).  The regulations for the taking and the exemption of the Required English course(s) are as follows:

一、必修英文規定:從大學部共同必修英文課程或應外系開授之英文課程中,選擇四學分的英文課程作為必修學分。

Required English course(s): It is compulsory to take 4 credits of English course(s) from the Required English courses for undergraduate students or any English courses at Department of Applied Foreign Languages.  

二、抵免規定:若學生在入學前後通過全民英檢中級複試或參加「暑期英文密集班」獲得結業證書者,則可抵免必修英文4學分。

Course exemption: Students who have got the certificate of the 2nd stage of General English Proficiency Test (GEPT) Intermediate Level or the NTUST “Summer Intensive English course” before or after enrollment, can be exempted from Required English course(s).

第五條        研究生修習課程皆須經指導教授同意,若尚未有指導教授者,須經導師同意,同意後需再送所長簽章後方屬有效。

                   Students must have their course selections approved by their advisors. For those who do not have thesis advisors yet, their course selections must be approved by their mentors before being submitted to the Institute Chairperson for signature.

第六條        本所碩士班研究生若於入學前已修讀相關研究所學分,如已修及格科目與本所課程相同,其學分採計或抵免辦法,依教育部及本校、所相關規定辦理。    

Students may apply for transfer credit or course waiver for any graduate-level courses taken prior to entering the institute. Applications are subject to approval based on associated regulations of the Ministry of Education, NTUST, and the Institute. 

第七條        本所碩士班研究生論文題目之選定,需徵得指導教授之同意,並向本所辦公室登記。論文指導教授必須為本所專任教師,若因論文研究需要得經所長同意,另選外所或校外教授一人為共同指導教授。

                  The selection of a master thesis title requires the approval from the thesis advisor. And the student should register the thesis title to the Institute Office. Only full-time professors at our Institute are qualified to be a thesis advisor. Due to research need, it is allowed to have a professor from other Institutes of NTUST or other Universities as the co-advisor, whose appointment requires the approval from our Chairperson.

第八條  研究生論文題目之決定、修改及內容之撰寫,應受指導教授之指導。指導教授之變更須經原指導教授、新任指導教授及所長同意,經原指導教授、新任指導教授雙方同意後,原論文內容完全更改;助理工作必需交接。

                   A student is under the instructions of his/her advisor in terms of the selection/revision of the thesis title and the writing of the thesis content. Changing advisors require a common consent among the original advisor, the new advisor and the Chairperson.  And by mutual agreement between the original advisor and the new advisor, the thesis content should be completely changed.  In addition, the work that the student has done as a research assistant must be handed over to a new assistant.

第九條  研究生各科學業成績以一百分為滿分,七十分(B-)為及格;不及格者不得補考(學位考試除外),必修科目應予重修。

                     For graduate students, the full mark for a course is 100 and the pass mark is 70(B-).  Except for the Final Oral Exam, there is no make-up exam.  If a student fails in a required course, he/she should retake it.

第十條  本所研究生論文口試之申請,應具備下列各項資格:

                     One should meet the following requirements before applying the Master Thesis Oral Examination:

一、依本所規定課程修滿三十學分與完成必修或抵免英文4學分規定(含當學期正在修習之學分)。

One should have completed 4 credits of Required English course(s) (unless he/she is qualified for the exemption of Required English) and 30 credits of other courses, according to the regulations of our institute. The credits of courses being taken in the current semester can be counted.

二、於論文資料收集前須通過論文研究計畫口試,並至少於提出論文口試前三個月完成。

    One should have passed the Thesis Oral Proposal Hearing before he starts to collect the materials for his thesis. In addition, one should have passed that exam at least three months before the Thesis Oral Final Examination.

三、申請論文口試前,應在國內外有審查制度之相關學術刊物投稿或研討會發表論著壹篇以上。

    Before applying the Thesis Oral Final Examination, one should have submitted at least one peer-reviewed academic journal paper or have presented at least one conference paper.

第十一條  碩士班研究生論文口試之申請,應依下列原則辦理:

          The application of the Thesis Oral Final Examination should be handled according to the following principles:

一、考試時間應訂於第一學期十月初至十二月底前,第二學期為四月初至六月底前;如有特別情況,經指導教授提所務會議同意,得個案處理。申請考試應填具口試委員推薦表,並於口試前二星期交由所辦公室公告。

The scheduled time periods for the examination are from the October to December in the first semester, and from April to June in the second semester, however, special cases can be approved by the Institute Affairs Meeting.  The applicants should fill in the “Form to Recommend Thesis Oral Exam Committee Members” and it should be made public by the Institute Office two weeks before the Thesis Oral Final Examination.

二、論文初稿及摘要應於口試前二星期交至所辦公室,由辦公室連同聘書、邀請函統一寄送予口試委員。

The Thesis Draft and Summary must be submitted to the Institute Office two weeks before the Thesis Oral Final Examination. The institute Office will mail them together with a Letter of Appointment and an Invitation Letter to each Oral Examination Committee Member.

第十二條  碩士學位論文口試委員會由委員三至五人組成,校內委員至少二人。口試委員之遴聘,由所長徵詢指導教授意見後決定。學位論文口試委員至少三人出席始得進行口試。

                      Thesis Oral Exam Committee is composed of 3~5 Committee members, among them at least two should be internal members. The selection and appointment of the members are decided by the Chairperson after consulting with the thesis advisor. The Thesis Oral Final Examination will be held only when at least 3 Committee members are present in the Thesis Oral Final Examination.

第十三條  本所碩士班研究生論文口試成績不及格,其修業年限尚未屆滿者,得於次學期或次學年申請重考。

                      For a master student who fails in the Thesis Oral Final Examination, if his study time has not exceeded the maximum length of study, the student could apply again the Thesis Oral Final Examination in next semester or in next academic year.

第十四條  本所碩士班研究生除滿足學則規定外,另需滿足以下規定,始得授予教育學碩士學位:

          Apart from the requirements by the above regulations, students should fulfill the following additional requirements to be granted the Master Degree in Education:

一、於在學期間之修業前四學期,每學期至少參加一場學術研討會〈國內外均可〉,並檢具出席證明。

In the first 4 semesters during the study period, students should attend at least one conference (domestic or overseas) in each semester and provide proof of attendance.

二、通過學位考試後請依規定至所辦繳交論文,始得辦理離校手續。

                        After passing the degree examination, please submit copies of the Thesis to the Institute Office as required, then go through the deregistration (check-out) procedure.

第十五條  研究生之學位論文有抄襲或舞弊情事,經口試委員審查確定者,以不及格論。如已授予學位,撤銷並追繳已發之學位證書。

                      If any plagiarism or cheating in a thesis is detected and proven true by the Thesis Oral Examination Committee, the student involved will be regarded as failed in the degree exam. Even if the degree has been granted, the diploma will be withdrawn and retrieved.

第十六條  本規則得由本所依教學與研究發展之需要修訂之。經所務會議通過後之修訂規則,其適用日期及對象依所務會議之決議辦理。

                       These regulations might be revised to meet the needs of education and research development of our Institute. The effective date and audience coverage of any revisions approved by the Institute Affairs Meeting should be processed according to the resolutions by the Meeting.

第十七條  本規則如有未盡事宜,依教育部有關法令及本校學則等相關規定辦理。

                       Any issues not covered by the above regulations are subject to related laws and regulations of Ministry of Education and regulations of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology.
