本所博士班研究生之入學、修課及考試等有關事項,依本校研究所學則及本所規則辦理。
Admissions, courses, and examinations for the doctoral program shall be as stipulated in the Graduate School Regulations and the rules of the Graduate Institute of Digital Learning and Education (GIDLE).
1. The study period of doctoral program is two years to seven years.
(一)英文課程:博士班研究生均須修習4學分英文課程(修習全英語學程之外籍生得免修),若於入學前通過相當全民英檢中級複試者,或曾於英語系國家取得學位者,或曾以英文發表論文、參加國際競賽,其英文能力經系所組成審查委員會審核通過者,可向系(所)申請免修英文4學分。
(二)「學術研究倫理」課程:自105學年度起入學博士班研究生,應於入學第一學年結束前,完成修習「學術研究倫理」課程(3小時),也可以修習本所開設之「研究倫理」課程(3學分)來抵免。修習通過後,始得申請學位考試。
(三)專業必修課程:
(四)專業選修課程:「數位學習心理與策略」領域課程至少選修3學分,包含:科學哲學(3學分)、線上探究學習(3學分)、測驗理論(3學分)、科技與語言教學(3學分)、數位學習系統設計(3學分)、資訊科技融入教學(3學分)、網路學習心理學(3學分)、資訊素養研究(3學分)、數位合作學習(3學分)、動機與學習(3學分)等課程。多修習之課程學分可納入選修學分計算。
註1:畢業學分除規定的30學分外,指導教授得要求修習研究所相關課程。研究生修習課程皆須經指導教授同意,若尚未有指導教授者,須經導師同意,同意後需再送所長簽章後方屬有效。
註2:非教育相關科系學生必須補修「教育研究法」,並得列入畢業學分。
2. To graduate, doctoral students must complete a minimum of 30 credits (excluding thesis and English credits). A maximum of 12 credits from other institutions' graduate programs can be counted towards the degree. The course should include: ( Please refer to our course structure for more details.)
2.1. English courses: Doctoral students are required to take 4 credits of English courses (foreign students in English-taught programs are exempted). Students who: (a) passed the second stage of the Intermediate GEPT (General English Proficiency Test) before admission to NTUST, or (b) received a degree from an English-speaking country, or (c) published papers in English or participated in international competitions, or (d) whose English ability was approved by the GIDLE examination committee may apply for exemptions to this requirement.
2.2. "Academic Research Ethics" course: Doctoral students who enrolled after the 105th academic year must complete a "Academic Research Ethics" course (3 hours) before the end of first year. Alternatively, can take the "Research Ethics" course (3 credits) offered by the GIDLE. Doctoral students can apply for the degree examination after passing this course.
2.3. Required courses:
2.3.1. Seminar (1), Seminar (2) (0 credits) (excluding foreign students).
2.3.2. "Methodology" subject area. At least 3 credits must be earned through one of following courses: Advanced Educational Statistics (3 credits), Qualitative Research Methods (3 credits), Experimental Research Methodology (3 credits), and Design-Based Research Methodology (3 credits). Additional courses can be counted as elective credits.
2.4. Elective courses: At least 3 credits should be earned from the "Digital Learning Psychology and Strategy" area, including courses such as Philosophy of Science (3 credits), Online Inquiry-based Learning (3 credits), Testing Theory (3 credits), Technology Enhanced Language Instruction (3 credits), E-Learning System Design (3 credits), Integrating Technology into Instruction (3 credits), Psychology of E-Learning (3 credits), Information Literacy Research (3 credits), Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (3 credits), and Motivation and Learning (3 credits). Additional courses can be counted as elective credits.
Note 1: In addition to the required 30 credits for graduation, the thesis advisor may require the student to take relevant courses in the Graduate Institute of Digital Learning and Education (GIDLE). The student must obtain the approval of the thesis advisor for the courses taken. If the student has not yet selected a thesis advisor, the approval of the academic advisor is required. After obtaining the approval, the student needs to obtain the signature of the GIDLE director for the courses to be valid.
Note 2: Students from non-education-related disciplines must take the "Educational Research Methodology" course as a supplementary requirement, and it will be included in the total credits for graduation.
(一)博士班研究生應於入學後第2學期結束時確認指導教授,並繳交「論文指導教授同意書」至系(所)辦公室。「論文指導教授」與「研究生」之互動關係,依「國立臺灣科技大學論文指導教授與研究生互動準則」規定辦理。
(二)論文指導教授必須為本所專任教師。若因論文研究需要,得經所長同意,另選外所或外校教授一人為共同指導教授。
(三)指導教授之變更須經原指導教授、新任指導教授及所長同意,經原指導教授、新任指導教授雙方同意後,原論文內容須完全更改,助理工作必須完成交接。
3. Regulations for the selection of a thesis advisor:
3.1. Doctoral students should confirm their thesis advisor at the end of the second semester after admission, and submit the "Thesis Advisor Agreement Form" to the GIDLE office. The interaction between the thesis advisor and the graduate student is governed by the "Guidelines for Interaction between Thesis Advisor and Graduate Student" of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology.
3.2. The thesis advisor must be a full-time faculty member of GIDLE. A professor from another institute or university may be selected as a co-advisor with the consent of the director, if necessary (i.e. if required by the research topic).
3.3. A change of the supervising professor requires the agreement of the original supervising professor, the new supervising professor, and the Director of the GIDLE. By mutual agreement between the original and the new supervising professor, the content of the original thesis must be completely changed, and all assistants' work must be handed over.
(一)博士班研究生於學位論文撰寫初期,須與指導教授確認論文主題及內容是否與系(所)專業領域相符。
(二)博士班研究生論文題目之選定,需徵得指導教授之同意,並向本所辦公室登記。
(三)研究生論文題目之決定、修改及內容之撰寫,應受指導教授之指導。
(四)學生學位論文之專業符合檢核作業(自 112 學年度入學之學生開始實施):學生應於口試當學期開學日起至加退選截止日前提交論文題目與研究目的至所辦公室,由所辦公室送本所學術與所務規劃委員會審查是否與本所專業領域相符;若審查不符,將請學生修正改善。未依規定期限送交審查者,當學期不得申請學位考試。
4. Requirements for Thesis Topics:
3.1. At the early stage of writing a thesis, the doctoral student must confirm with the thesis advisor whether the topic and content of the thesis are consistent with GIDLE’s field of expertise.
3.2. The selection of the thesis topic for doctoral students must be approved by the thesis advisor and registered with the GIDLE office.
3.3. The decision and revision of the thesis topic and the writing of the content of the thesis shall be under the guidance of the thesis advisor.
3.4 .Students’ dissertation professional conformity check (implemented starting from the students enrolled in the 112 academic year): Students should submit the thesis topic and research purpose to the office of the institute from the beginning of the semester of the oral examination to the deadline for admission and withdrawal, and the office will send the The academic and business planning committee of the institute will review whether it is consistent with the professional field of the institute; if the review does not match, students will be asked to correct and improve. Those who fail to submit the examination within the stipulated time limit shall not apply for the degree examination in the current semester.
(一)博士資格考試方式有二種,擇一完成:
(1)於SCI、 SSCI、TSSCI、AHCI之期刊發表一篇學術論文,或於EI期刊發表二篇學術論文。作者排序除指導教授外須為第一作者,並檢附已刊登之論文或論文接受證明。
(2)於入學後二年內發表或被接受之論文,方得以採計。
(1)考試科目包括研究方法和數位學習二科目,可分次完成,各科以B-(七十分)為及格,各科得重考一次。
(2)每年舉辦二次,各次應考之博士班研究生應依辦公室公告之日期及考試科目,事先向辦公室提出申請。
(3)各科命題委員及命題方式由博士資格考試之考試委員會決定。考試委員至少5人,委員會組成由所務會議討論決定。
(二)博士班研究生在入學後第2學年結束前,應通過博士學位候選人資格考核,考核成績以七十分或B-為及格,如第一次考試不及格,得申請重考一次。重考一次再不及格,或逾時仍未通過資格考者,應令退學。
(三)博士班研究生通過博士資格考試後,方取得博士候選人資格。
5. Regulations for the Doctoral Qualification Examination (QE)
5.1. Doctoral students can choose between two types of doctoral qualification examinations (5.1.1 or 5.1.2)
5.1.1. Publication of academic papers
5.1.1.1. Publication of one academic paper in SCI, SSCI, TSSCI, AHCI journals or two academic papers in EI journals. The author must be the first author (excluding the thesis advisor) and must submit the published paper or a proof that the paper has been accepted.
5.1.1.2. Only papers published or accepted within two years of admission will be considered.
5.1.2. Written Examination
5.1.2.1. The examination consists of two subjects, Research Methods and Digital Learning, and can be completed in two sittings, with a B- (a score of 70) in each subject as pass mark, and each subject can be re-taken once.
5.1.2.2. The examination will be held twice a year, and doctoral students should apply to the GIDLE office in advance in accordance with the dates and subjects announced by the office.
5.1.2.3. The examining board of the Doctoral Qualifying Examination shall decide on the selection of the examiners and the method of setting questions. The examination committee shall have at least five members and the composition of the committee will be decided by the Faculty Council.
5.2. Doctoral students shall pass the qualifying examination for doctoral candidacy with a grade B- (a score of 70) by the end of the second academic year of study. If they fail the examination on the first attempt, they may apply to resit the examination once. If they fail again in the second attempt, or fail to pass the qualifying examination within the time limit, they shall be withdrawn from the program.
5.3. A doctoral student qualifies as a doctoral candidate after passing the doctoral qualification examination.
(一)博士班研究生修業期滿,符合系(所)修業規定,同時通過博士學位候選人資格考核與完成論文初稿,並具備以下三項條件,始得申請博士學位考試。
(二)博士班研究生論文口試之申請,應依下列原則辦理:
(三)博士班研究生學位口試成績不及格,其修業年限尚未屆滿者,得於次學期或次學年申請重考。重考以一次為限;重考成績仍不及格者,依學則規定應令退學。
(四)研究生之學位論文有抄襲或舞弊情事,經口試委員審查確定者,以不及格論。如已授予學位,撤銷並追繳已發之學位證書。
(五)學位考試須遵照「國立臺灣科技大學博士學位考試辦法」規定辦理。
(六)論文需符合本所論文原創性比對之規定。
(七)學生應於學位口試日期至少四週前向所辦公室提出口試申請,並應依據「本所學位考試委員提聘資格認定標準表」確認所聘請之口試委員資格,必要時檢附相關文件送學術與所務規劃委員會審查口試委員資格。
6. Requirements for the Doctoral Degree Thesis Oral Examination
6.1. Upon completion of the doctoral program, the student shall be eligible to apply for the doctoral examination if the student has met all requirements of the department (institute), has passed the qualification examination for doctoral candidates, has completed the thesis draft. In addition, the student must fulfill the following conditions:
6.1.1. Publication of academic papers: At least one academic paper published as the first-author (excluding the thesis advisor) in SCI, SSCI, TSSCI, or AHCI journals. The published paper or a proof of acceptance of the paper has to be submitted. Papers that were already submitted for the qualification examination (see 5.1.1) will not be accepted.
6.1.2. Participation in international conferences: At least one international conference has to be attended with a paper orally presented in English.
6.1.3. Pass the thesis research proposal defense before collecting thesis data, and complete it at least three months before proposing the thesis oral examination.
6.2. Regulations for the Doctoral Degree Thesis Oral Examination:
6.2.1. The examination committee for the doctoral oral examination shall consist of five to seven members, with at least one-third of the members from other universities, and the thesis advisor shall not serve as the committee convener. The committee members shall be selected by the GIDLE and assigned by the president with the consent of the Dean of the Faculty.
6.2.2. The following documents have to be submitted the GIDLE office two weeks before the oral examination: The application form for the Doctoral Degree Thesis Examination, transcripts of previous years, the first draft and abstract of the thesis, the recommendation letter from the thesis advisor, and the list of degree examiners. The office will send these materials with the appointment letter and the invitation letter to the members of the oral examination committee.
6.3. Students who fail the oral doctoral degree examination and who have not yet exceeded the maximum study period of the doctoral program may apply to retake examination in the next semester or the following academic year. Students who fail the second examination shall be withdrawn from the program in accordance with the rules of NTUST.
6.4. If plagiarism or cheating is discovered in the thesis and confirmed by the oral examination committee, the doctoral candidate will be deemed to have failed the examination. If a degree has already been awarded, the degree will be revoked and the certificate issued will be recovered.
6.5. The degree examination shall be conducted in accordance with the "Regulations of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology Doctoral Degree Examination".
6.6. The thesis research proposal must comply with the institute's regulations on originality check for thesis.
6.7. Students should submit an oral test application to the Office of the Institute at least four weeks before the date of the oral test, and confirm the qualifications of the oral test committee members hired according to the "Qualification Standards for the Qualifications of the Degree Examination Committee Members of the Institute", and submit relevant documents to the academic and institute if necessary. The business planning committee examines the qualifications of the members of the oral examination.
7. Matters not provided herein must be resolved according the Regulations by National Taiwan University of Science and Technology.
8. This course will be implemented after the approval of the faculty council and will be amended as well.
